MSA is a critical component in Quality Management System as repeatable and reproducible data prevents and reduces waste.
As part of the company QMS team, the MSA referent actively collaborates with the process and equipment engineers in defining the rules to accept, to assess and to control the measurement systems, using statistical analysis methodology and tools.
The role requires the definition and approvement of parameters on which the tests will be performed according to technology and measurement criticalities and in cooperation with measurement expert (metrology, defectivity, etc. . . ), device, and QA organizations.
The main activities to be performed have to evaluates the test method, measuring instruments, and the entire process of obtaining measurements to ensure the integrity of data used for analysis and to understand the implications of measurement error for decisions made about a product or process: - Select the correct measurement and approach, - Define and improve the local procedure and instructions to perform suitable statistical studies, - Assess the measuring device, procedures, and operators, - Assessing any measurement interactions, - Plan and perform R&R studies periodically, - Analyze the results and suggest adequate corrective actions, - To perform Maintenance Preventive Procedure according to each dedicated scheduled plan, in term of handling, mechanical parts, optics and electrical behavior, following technical procedures.
The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), a non-profit association of automotive companies to which ST Microelectronics refers, has documented a recommended measurement system analysis procedure in their MSA manual.
