Under guidance from Operations Management, responsible for coordinating, monitoring, supervising and executing the activities of one or more departments. May act as a liaison between Operations Supervision and Management on shifts where management is not present. Ensures that departmental goals are achieved by communicating established objectives. Communicates overall organizational directives made by upper management. Provides input to other Operations Supervisors and management regarding individual team member performance. Maximizes employee participation to achieve the desired team approach. Assists in the development of departmental personnel to enhance skills, improve responsiveness, and promote business growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensures that employees are at work on time, actively engaged in their assigned departments and conforming to established safety regulations. Ensures that all company policies are followed. Provides input to Operations Manager for reporting reasons on manufacturing/production, employee performance/conduct and process flow. At times will require additional assistance from other Operations Supervisors and/or Operations Manager in difficult decision-making situations. At times will be responsible for scheduling and participating in departmental meetings. May ensure that time and attendance for assigned employees is accurate in data collection system. Will need to be able to handle multiple responsibilities at one time and must be able to deal effectively with people using a facilitative approach.
• Supervises employees by giving them direction and work assignments. Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Coordinates and executes established activities of department(s) to ensure that goals are met (i. e. , moving employees around to other manufacturing/production areas, pulling resources, maintenance issues, etc. ). At times will need assistance from Operations Manager because any decisions made or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules. Works with various support functions (e. g. , Operations Manager, Engineering, Maintenance, etc. ) to resolve production problems. Provides feedback to Engineering and management on the equipment operation and production effectiveness (road blocks and positives).
• Receives assignments/projects in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. These assignments/projects are generally smaller in scale. Examples of such projects/assignments may include reducing a specific part number for inventory reasons, working to improve CRD for a specific customer, housekeeping initiatives, safety improvements, Quality/PPM, CRD, or inventory.
QUALIFICATION
• High School diploma or equivalent with four (4) to six (6) years of shop-related work experience
• High level of skill and knowledge in manufacturing/production operations with demonstrated ability to function in a leadership role
• Preferred proficiency in SAP as it relates to time and attendance, material transactions, etc.
• Must have excellent communication skills
