YOUR TEAM The (SBRP) research line is led by Dr.
Lucia Beccai.
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group and collaborate with the team to carry out common research within outstanding facilities.
For this post, the research aim is to design and develop continuum manipulators taking inspiration from the capabilities of the elephant trunk.
The specific objectives are to investigate innovative metamaterial-based soft actuators and to develop multidimensional soft gripping systems.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be: Design and fabrication of a continuum manipulator and end-effector Parametric/topological optimization Kinematic modelling and analysis Characterization of actuated systems and validation of robots ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Ph.
D. in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics or in a closely related discipline.
Documented experience and strong skills in: Mechanical design and fabrication of tendon-driven soft systems and pneumatically actuated systems.
Numerical modelling ( Ansys, Comsol) and simulation (MATLAB) of kinematics Computer-aided design, enabling device prototyping/fabrication ( Solid Works, Siemens NX) Fabrication techniques for soft systems including 3D printing A strong publication record The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data Good command in spoken and written English IMPORTANT SKILLS Strong problem-solving attitude High motivation to learn Spirit of innovation and creativity Good in time and priority management Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive salary package for international standards Private health care coverage Wide range of staff discounts Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
