The LR/DXG IPM Operational Engineering team provides the Infrastructure, Automation and Delivery (IAD) framework and services which underpin the technology critical to Wolters Kluwer and our Expert Solutions.
As a Lead Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the IAD framework as well working with Wolters Kluwer Product Teams to successfully implementing and bring any learnings through our continuous development.
You will work closely with our development and operations teams to ensure that our services and solutions are delivered efficiently and with the highest level of quality.
In addition, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading a team of Dev Ops engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration with continuous learning and being an evangelist for the IAD Framework.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities : As a Lead Operational Engineer, partner with and provide mentorship to Operations and development teams to: Design, implement and automate the creation of Cloud Infrastructure in Azure & AWS using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Jenkins Provide leadership, experience and mentoring on the adoption and usage of Infrastructure as Code automation across engineering and as well as the broader organisation Build and help transform towards container and serverless compute, such as AKS, EKS, Docker and Azure Functions.
Build and help maintain CI/CD pipelines and orchestrations across multiple environments Advise, implement and support the adoption of Cloud Native solutions as appropriate to the situation and needs Build effective Observability of managed solutions, including troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Ensure the infrastructure, automation, monitoring, and CI/CD solutions for LR/DXG are compatible with the broader organizational Dev Ops and Security patterns and processes Mentor and manage a team of Dev Ops engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Explore new technologies, development patterns, and partake in pilots/POC/technologyevaluations Provide input into architecture and engineering standards On a rotating basis, you will work as an embedded resource within existing operational teams helping them: Deploy and maintain critical applications Design new systems and modernise existing applications Identify areas in need of engineering improvements and proposing replacement strategies Resolve Production incidents and contribute into root cause analysis Improve knowledge sharing across the organization on both IAD best practices and our current engineering toolsets and platforms Have on call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team Job Qualifications : Hold at least two Azure &/or AWS Certifications Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field Required Experience : Minimum 8 years of software related experience required, with a mixture of Site Reliability, Dev Ops, or Release Engineering experience with Software Engineering experience in backend services, middleware or data systems Strong background in software development, with experience in languages such as Python, Ruby, or Java.
Possess recent eexperience with Cloud infrastructure ( Azure and AWS) Proficient in Shell Scripting Languages ( Power Shell & Bash).
Understanding of the core AWS and Azure services.
Proficiency with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins or Travis CI.
Experience leading a team of engineers.
Able to communicate complex technical projects to multiple staff types effectively in order to achieve buy in on plans and proposals. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
Experience and deep commitment to the transformation to a Dev Ops culture focusing on continuous integration – full lifecycle of building, automated and performance testing, and automating deployment.
Experience building platforms for Observability and defining standard operating procedures Experience with diagnostic tools and script automation of Windows and Linux Preferred Experience : Experience maintaining and deploying highly available, fault-tolerant cloud-native systems at scale using Infrastructure as Code automation.
