Defense System Engineer( Electro-Mechanical)

The activity of GTS domain: Security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control & management information and signalling solutions for trains, trams and metros Regarding railway solutions, Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for tramway signalling solutions. The activity of SIX domain: mission critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens security (supervision, control and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures and ensures that they are kept in secure working order. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for Airport security and operations management solutions. JOB OBJECTIVE
To design and implement Electro- Mechanical Systems for BI Ds and Projects.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will fill the role of Bids and Projects System Engineer in both Customer and R&D contexts, particularly for Defense business. Hereafter the main related responsibilities are listed:


• To scout continuously the Defense Market and the Thales Products Portfolio in order to find innovative solutions, following especially the digital transformation trend.


• To analyze and understand the customer needs or R&D Call specifications, in order to well define and manage the related low/high level requirements.


• To design complex Telecom and Security Systems, allowing to meet stakeholders’ expectations and in compliance with assigned budget, risks mitigation, quality constraints, project schedule, technology roadmap and business strategy.


• To manage the vendors Subcontracts from technical point of view.


• To support the relevant specialists in order to guarantee Cyber-by- Design.


• To elaborate all engineering documentation, e. g. Product Breakdown Structure, Architecture, Interconnection Diagrams, Functional Specifications, Interfaces Control Details, Test Procedures and O&M Manuals.


• To ensure the project technical integration and carry out integration, verification and validation tests.


• To contribute to the main bid/project engineering reviews.


• To formalize and demonstrate the selected solution to the customer.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

It is required a Work Experience on Projects with Technological Contents, e. g. Structured Cabling Systems, Electrical/ Power/ Battery Systems, HVAC System, Technical Laboratory, PV Plant, Industrial Cabinet, or CBRN ( Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) where the leading of engineering activities was foreseen, in particular with a Design- To- Cost approach and a V Cycle methodology.

QUALIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Master Degree in Engineering ( Energy, Electrical, Biomedical, Automation, Mechanical) or in Physicist.



• Worked on System Requirement Management and Technical Specification Writing.


• Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.


• Customer facing skills (presentations/meetings).


• Planning and Reporting skills.


• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.


• Able to coordinate with external contractors and suppliers.


• Able to work in a various environment: in office, smart working and construction sites.


• Able to effectively achieve objectives in teamwork.


• Able to perform in multicultural and multilanguage environment
