She/he works at the customer interface, is an expert on solution selling and participates in customer meetings when needed.
She/he has deep understanding of new and existing KONE solutions and services (e. g. project management, installation and maintenance) across business lines and has a holistic understanding of certain customer segments, cruise, ferry and cargo ships.
She/he takes into consideration all product and service costing and planning aspects when defining a solution e. g. corporate materials from the supply line, local materials from sourcing, costing of engineering, installation and impact on maintenance.
Responsibilities and key activities
Collaboration with sales :
Responsible for finding optimal technical solutions to meet the customer’s needs for non-standard and modernisation cases
Ensures clarity on the solution’s scope, including KONE and possible third-party offerings
Participates in customer meetings and answers customers’ technical questions when needed
Selects the correct product platform on which to make the offering
Proposes solutions from all KONE business lines; new services, escalators, elevators, doors etc.
Solution planning – Costing:
Involves engineering, installation, maintenance and project management to understand both the materials and the service cost of the solution
Solution planning – Specs:
Creates product specifications for local materials
Accountable for the technical content of the order to delivery phase
Accountable for detailed, custom product plans for non-standard cases (collaborates with the SL Engineering team when needed)
Solution planning – Availability and lead times
Coordinates engineering schedules between Supply line and customer
Solution planning – Installability
Ensures that the proposed solution can be installed
Ensures that the cost and work effort impact of installation is part of the solution’s costing, especially in non-standard installation method cases
Solution planning – Maintainability
Ensures that the proposed solution fulfils the customer’s product lifecycle needs
Solution planning – Compliance
Ensures that the proposed solution fulfils codes, regulations and safety requirements
Ensures alignment with environmental regulations
Ensures that the planned solution complies with KONE engineering policy
Key tasks in the KONE Sales process
Provides content for pre-tender and pre-booking reviews (technical solutions, costs, lead times, risks, verification of technical content in contracts)
Executes activities for a holistic solution plan
Key tasks in the KONE Delivery process
Accountable for layout coordination
Analyses change requirements, and makes proposals for the new solution plan
Provides solution-related information to Sales, Project Managers, Installation Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisors
General responsibilities
Participates in product release information-sharing sessions
Offers input to the product offering management about customisation, standardisation and interface requirements for the portfolio
Contribution to the Customer Solutions Engineering virtual and local network
Contribute to and utilise the Customer Solutions Engineering case library
Is the primary front line technical contact person for the Supply Line Tendering Engineers
Skills and Educational
• Bachelor/ Master’s Degree in Engineering or similar
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience in the Marine business
• Fluent in English and Italian language
• Holistic understanding of different Marine solution types and customer segments
• Technical understanding of offerings in Marine environment
• Good solution and value-selling skills
• Excellent skills in understanding and translating customer needs into KONE technical specifications
• Understanding of Marine installation processes
• Good knowledge of KONE Marine solution-related codes and standards
• Good engineering tool skills e. g. CAD
• Basic knowledge of competitors’ technical solutions
• Good understanding of all the required elements for solution total costing
• Good virtual communication/collaboration skills
• Good team player
