About the Role We are looking to establish a pool of Building Fire Safety Officers to assist in applying relevant fire safety codes and regulations through the assessment and inspection of new, proposed, and existing buildings ( Class 2 – 9) to ensure compliance with structural fire safety standards.
In this role, you can contribute to developing new buildings by inspecting, testing, and reviewing essential fire safety equipment.
Your work will ensure compliance with structural fire safety legislation, standards, and operational requirements.
Additionally, you will advise and assist stakeholders, further enhancing the safety of new and existing buildings.
To be successful in this role, you will need experience in implementing the Building Code of Australia, building legislation, and other fire safety codes, standards, and statutes.
You should also have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate with various stakeholders.
All new employees will commence at the introductory level as per the WA Fire Services EBA 2023, unless mapping of competencies and experience demonstrates a higher commencement classification.
This assessment will be completed if you are found suitable in the pool.
Employment Conditions and Additional Information DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies.
As part of an on-call roster, employees may be required to attend structural incidents as required, to provide technical advice to operational staff and assess and report on the performance of active and passive fire safety systems.
Eligibility To Apply You must be an Australian Citizen or hold permanent residency to be considered for permanent appointments or hold a working visa covering the term of the contract (proof must be provided with your application) to be eligible for this position.
We will consider visa sponsorship options for people already residing in Australia.
National Police Certificate A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement.
